Tip-a-licious Thursday

Have you ever seen those cute little personalized candies? Did you know that they can cost around $1.75 per candy with a personalized wrapper? Well when I heard that my mother-in-law was going to throw me a baby shower, I wanted to have personalized candies for the guests. I was surprised at the prices I found on the internet. I thought to myself "Surely these can't be that hard to make." Turns out I was right!
What I did was buy a bag of minature Kit Kat bars & a glue stick. Using Microsoft Office Publisher I typed out what I wanted the candy wrapper to say and added clip art. See the example below:

So why is the lower portion upside down?
Well, the reason for that is because when you print and wrap the paper around the candy, the front and back will read in the same direction. (Hope that makes sense) You may notice that when you test your creation on a candy, it may not fit correctly. This is the hard part! You kind of have to mess with the spacing until you get it perfect. When I found the perfect measurements I then printed out however many I needed. Once you are done printing, cut the paper to the size needed for the candies, then wrap it around the paper & secure it by using your glue stick. BAM...You just saved yourself 70+ dollars!
I know this is time consuming if you have a lot of guests but making them yourself guarantees that they will come out exactly how you want them to.

I can vouch that its a super simple project to do your self and save lots of $$$. I found a printable fill-in-the blank candy wrapper collection on Rachael Ray's website (through a link in her mag) and customized it (re-sized since her template was for the full-sized bars) with my wedding colors and info and made about 200 for my wedding. Here's a photo of the finished product:
