Wordful Wednesday

(Click on picture to read the essay)

Today I wanted to share with you my daughter's winning essay. We were so proud of her and of course she was excited to win the Month of the Military Child Essay Contest at her school. When I read her essay it tugs at my heart to know that my daughter knows so much about war, death, and fear of losing a loved one.

I am proud to be a Navy family but at times I also feel sad for my children. Why? Well for those of you that are not military families, let me tell you it's hard to be away from your spouse (and for the kids-their dad) for several months! It's especially hard when you have a loved one deployed to a war zone. Thankfully when my husband leaves in April he will be on a ship instead of Iraq! Unfortunately this will be the first time our 2 year old son will have to be away from his dad, our daughter is a little prepared because she was 5 when her dad was deployed to Iraq. As for myself, well this is the first time I have to go through almost a whole pregnancy by myself. Yikes! Well even with all that said I wouldn't have it any other way! After all....I grew up a Navy brat so this is all I know.

beautiful! And Congrats for the win! I am in awe of your strength to be a military wife. It takes a special woman to be able to do it. I am just glad my DH is no longer a military man. I don't think I could have the strength that you seem to possess! Hugs!

I'm from a military family too. Two Marines, One Air Force, One Army and a Navy wife. So, I know what she's talking about!!! And congrats to her. Hope the daddy returns home soon, and unharmed.

My Wordful is filled with fantasies, fairies and fixtures today. Come by, won't you? And have a blessed Wednesday.
