Wordful Wednesday

If you have an iPhone then you know that there are tons of apps. I am always searching through (free) apps to find cool ones. I absolutely love photography ones because you can do fun things with the apps, like PhotoFunia. The pictures below are ones that I did of myself. You can select to put your face on a billboard, museum, & so much more! PhotoFunia has a website as well where you can do the same things as with the iPhone PLUS more. Have fun!

Tasty Tuesday

MINESTRONE SOUP

8 oz of Italian Sausage (casings removed) I used two packages of hot Italian sausage

1 Onion chopped

3 cloves of Garlic, chopped

1 Carrot, chopped

3 Celery, chopped

4 Cups Chicken Broth

1 15 oz Can Diced Tomatoes with juice

2 Cups Chopped Fresh Swiss Chard (you can find this at Whole Foods)

6 oz Medium size Pasta Shells

1/2 Grated Parmesan

Cook Sausage, breaking it up as you stir. Cook until no longer pink. Take sausage out, drain and set aside. Leave a little of the sausage oil in pot and add onions, garlic, carrot, and celery. Cook until vegetables have softened a bit. Add broth, tomato with the juice, and 3 cups of water. Add sausage, and chard, simmer about 20 minutes. Stir in pasta a cook a few minutes more until pasta is tender. Top with parmesan cheese.

Wordful Wednesday

Aww, This is my baby Barry and his girlfriend Christina. I took this picture right before we dropped him off at the hotel last week, as he prepared to go off to boot camp. Yes, for days I cried and I'm crying again as I type up this post. I guess we have to let them grow up but it sure is hard to do. We are all so proud of him. We thank all our service members for their service to our country.

I love this simple recipe from Taste of Home's One Dish Meals. It's called Garden Fresh Taco Salad.
Yield: 4 Servings
Prep/Total Time: 30 min.

Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 envelope taco seasoning, divided
1 large head lettuce, shredded
4 medium tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cups (8 ounces) shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup Miracle Whip
1 tablespoon salsa
Leaf lettuce
Crushed tortilla chips

Directions:
In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in half of the taco seasoning. Remove from the heat; stir in the shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onion and cheese.
In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, salsa and remaining taco seasoning. Pour over salad and toss to coat. Line a large bowl or platter with leaf lettuce; top with taco salad. Sprinkle tortilla chips around edge.

Fisher-Price Laptops

I am a mother of a busy 3 year old son named Jae'Sun. Jae'Sun is very independent & I swear he thinks he is a grown man. Whenever he sees mommy on the laptop, he runs off to his room to get his 'puter'.

Jae'Sun's 'puter' is a Fisher-Price Fun 2 Learn Laughtop. This Laptop helps preschoolers build key academic skills like phonics, upper and lowercase letters, letter recognition and letter order. It even has 2 fun 'mouse' games: pong & a maze.

Ok now for the bad news...the Laughtop was discontinued this year BUT Fisher-Price has a newer version out called Color Flash Laptop. The Fisher-Price Color Flash Laptop has 6 fun learning modes: Letters, Phonics, Numbers, Music, Games, Typing & even a slide in mouse pad! Personally I think this is a great gift for a preschool aged child because they have fun while learning. Kids can easily get bored with toys but with the different modes on the laptop they are kept amused. Parent Tip: Great for long car rides!

Colonix Colon Cleanse Program (Week 1)

Note: I will be talking about my experience with Colonix (a colon cleansing program).

Thoughtful Thursday

I decided to not post a Tip-a-licious Thursday but instead write a post to cheer my mother up. My brother is leaving for bootcamp today!!! We are extremely proud of him, however, he is the baby so this makes it bittersweet for my mother. I have yet to know this feeling because my children are still young but I can only imagine how much her heart is aching. So today please leave Frugal Mama (Juanita) some thoughtful comments to cheer her up! Thank you so much.

You are the best mom ever! I love you so much. I wish I could be there to hug you & take you out to breakfast. :)

Wordful Wednesday

The girls have grown so quick. They were born roughly 6 weeks ago & have changed so much. Just 2 days apart, these cousins are opposites. Karissa loves to cuddle, eat, & sleep. Maleah loves to be nosy, eat, & then be nosy some more.

Karissa & Maleah have yet to meet because Karissa lives in TX & Maleah lives in CA. We hope we can get them together soon!
