Black Bean Hamburger

There are many health advantages to preparing your hamburger at home rather than purchasing it from a fastfood place. You control the quality and quantity of ingredients that go into your hamburger.

Makes 4 patties, I doubled the recipe for my family.

2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 Onion finely chopped
1 Stalk of Celery finely chopped
1 15 oz can of Black Beans (rinse and drain)
1 Large Egg beaten
1 Tsp Cumin
1/2 cup Plain Bread Crumbs
Finely Chopped Jalapenos (amount depends on how hot you want it, or you can omit altogether)
Salt and Pepper to taste

Preheat oven to 375. In a pan add oil and saute onion and celery until soft. Pour beans in a bowl and mash into a paste. Add onion, celery and jalapenos. Stir in egg, cumin and bread crumbs. Season with salt & pepper. Mix altogether. Form into patties and bake on lightly greased pan about 10 minutes on each side or until firm.
