About a year ago I had the opportunity to review & giveaway the It's Hip Hop, Baby: All Your Child's Favorites. (You can find that review here)
"It's Hip Hop, Baby!" is a children's DVD series for ages 2 to 6. These videos educate toddlers and preschoolers with fun child-friendly hip hop music. Children and even babies will want to move and groove and dance to the fun rhythms and beats in this educational DVD. This educational DVD series features child-friendly dance routines that help your child develop listening skills and the ability to follow simple directions.
Just recently, It’s Hip Hop, Baby! released their first fitness DVD for kids called Hip Hop Dance Class! Hip Hop Dance Class is a 60-minute work out video featuring the latest in hip hop dance moves. Children ages 5 & up learn three complete dance routines with dance instructor Nikki Stanek. Check out my 10 year old daughter, Kanani, practicing her moves:
This is a fun workout for the whole family to do! I thought my daughter would have a hard time getting the moves down because she lacks rhythm. However, the Hip Hop Dance Class DVD breaks everything down step-by-step and even has different dance levels. Plus, there’s cardio hip hop, freestyle dancing and kids even learn how to clap and step to the beat. Kanani started off with the beginner's dance routine but then graduated to the intermediate. Yaay!
I love this DVD because it's a fun way to get kids moving! Nowadays kids are spending less time exercising and more time watching tv, playing video games, or on the internet. As parents, we stay busy and sometimes don't have time to cook a nutritious meal every night. It happens...nothing to be embarrassed about! It's easy to wean the kids off of the electronics and get them moving when it's something they'll enjoy. Although Kanani is super skinny, she is also super lazy & unfit (the girl can't even touch her toes). My husband and I workout but we realized Kanani needs to workout too. What a perfect DVD for her to have!

Then I gave her the Wags Q for the Soup but since I didn't get 4 she wouldn't let me use it. I knew that my OOP would be too low to use the $5 RR if I took both off, so I just had her remove 1 and she left the Q on.
As this weekend is coming to an end, I began to realize that many people are forgetting the real purpose/meaning of Memorial Day. Most people associate Memorial Day with three day weekends filled with barbeques and parties. However, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom!!!
So put down the beach towels, the beer, the grilling gear and let's take the time to pay our respects to the fallen. There are a number of events going on tomorrow just google Memorial Day events (and your City) and you'll be sure to find a few! Here is a list of things that will be going on in the San Diego area:
Balboa Park: Remembrance ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Monday featuring guest speakers, the national anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, retiring the colors and taps. Museum open from noon to 6 p.m.; admission fees required. (619) 239-5977.
Bonita: A fly-over by vintage planes precedes a memorial at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of Roses on May 31. Glen Abbey Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita. (619) 498-4600.
Chula Vista: A Veterans Memorial will be dedicated at 11 a.m. Monday at Mater Dei Catholic High School. 1615 Mater Dei Drive. Del Mar: The Del Mar Community Memorial Day Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Captain Brian C. Schexnayder, USMC, will be the guest speaker. Recently my cousin Denise of Hanford, California joined us in our Frugal shopping. Today she went to Wags and purchased everything you see in the pic. I can't believe how fast she picked up on this. Usually when you try to explain this to newbies it takes them a while especially Wags, since it's a little more confusing than CVS. Today I wanted to share with all of you a picture of my youngest daughter, Maleah. About a week ago I submitted this photo of her into the Parents Magazine Cover Contest. Spray baking sheet. Roll out pizza dough on baking sheet. Spread Ricotta on half the pizza, leaving about 1/2 on the edge. In a bowl mix the Feta and Broccoli. Spread Feta/Broccoli mixture over Ricotta. Fold over and pinch the edges. With a fork press all along the edges to keep everything inside. Brush a little Olive Oil over the top and sprinkle with Parmesan. Bake at 425 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until dough is cooked.

The day my sample box arrived, I was like a kid in a candy store! I opened each flavor & began to eat one of each as my husband watched me with a grin on his face. I responded, "I have to taste them in order to write a review." He simply gave me a "Mmm hmmm!" I think I ended up eating roughly two from each package....just to be thorough with my review process. :) From my extensive taste testing I decided that my favorite flavors are Chocolate Cherry & Gingerspice. By far the unusual flavor was Sesame because it just doesn't sound like a typical cookie flavor. The taste of it is interesting too because the sesame seeds add a little twist to the flavor. Overall, all taste great & go perfect with my morning coffee! The fact that the cookies are a healthier choice & low in calories makes them the perfect guilt free snack (in moderation).

Last weekend Juanita's youngest son, Barry, got MARRIED! We were unable to attend his wedding due to the fact that Barry is in Chicago completing his Navy A-School. However, his entire family was there in spirit & are very happy for him.
1-15 oz Can Black Beans 2-Cups Mango, Diced 1-Cup Sweet Red Bell Pepper, Diced 6-Green Onions, Thinly Sliced 1/4-Cup Chopped Cilantro 1/4-Cup Fresh Lime Juice 1-Tbsp. Olive Oil 1-Jalapeno Pepper, Minced Salt to Taste
Combine all the ingredients. Toss and serve. It's that easy and taste great. Refrigerate any leftovers.
