Tasty Tuesday

Here is a fairly simple recipe for Oatmeal Cinnamon Bars. These make a delicious snack or breakfast on-the-go! You can also add raisins, chocolate chips, or whatever else you are craving in these bars. Yummy!

Servings: 24
Serving size: 1 bar
Prep Time: 15 mins
Cook Time: 25 mins

2 cups of oatmeal
1 ½ cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup cinnamon applesauce
½ cup vegetable oil

Smelly Towel Cleaner Review/Giveaway

Do your towels stink?
Mine did and boy was it embarrassing when guests were sleeping over! As a matter of fact, the last time my grandparents came over, they brought their own towels. Uhh...I get the hint grandma! So desperately I tried to get the smell out by washing my towels with vinegar, baking soda, and even adding extra fabric softener but nothing worked. Frustrated with the smell, I almost threw all my towels away but luckily I was offered the opportunity to review Smelly Towel Cleaner. Phewww this saved me tons of money!

Smelly Towel Cleaner was designed to remove the cause of odor rather than just cover it up. The common cause for stinky towels is nasty mildew living in the fabrics. Smelly Towel Cleaner uses ingredients derived from all natural citrus to safely and effectively eliminate mildew.

One 12 oz bottle can give you up to 24 treatments PLUS it's super easy to use. Just simply throw your towels or clothing into your washer with hot water and add 1 level cap (equivalent to 1 TBSP) of Smelly Towel Cleaner in place of detergent. Let you washer cycle through and Tah-Dah - no more smell! (Note: Extreme cases may need to soak for 2 hours in order to completely remove odor) Now if that wasn't good enough...guess what? You can also use a half teaspoon of Smelly Towel Cleaner as a detergent booster to enhance colors and keep that fresh smell!
Try it and see for yourself!

Buy It:
You can purchase Smelly Towel Cleaner online for $16.99

Win It:
One lucky Frugalicious Mommy reader will win their very own bottle of Smelly Towel Cleaner.

Costume Supercenter.com was kind enough to send me the Elite Lil' Lion Costume in large to review. I thought it would be perfect for my granddaughter, Karissa (By the way her mommy's name is LIONarda; how fitting that she would be a lil Lion). The Elite Lil Lion costume is a high-quality zippered bodysuit with snaps on the bottom (for those changing times) and comes complete with the matching slip-on "Paws," a pull over hood "Lion's Mane," and a cute lil Bow at the end of the tail. The costume comes in small (6-12 mo.), medium (12-18 mo.) and large (18 mo.-2T). At first I thought the bodysuit might be a little irritating to Karissa's skin, but the costume is fully lined and didn't bother her one bit. Karissa seemed to be quite comfortable in the costume. She is 10 months old and didn't mind at all having the head cover on, in fact she enjoyed it. HAHA I think she thought she was scaring us.

No need to scramble around from store-to-store to find the perfect costume. Just visit Costume Supercenter.com and I'm sure you'll find the perfect costume for your Halloween Night.

The End. :)

Frugalicious Mommy Disclosure: Costume Supercenter.com provided me with the Lil Lion Costume. I was allowed to keep the product, but the opinion I am sharing remains my own. No monetary compensation was received for this post.

Wordful Wednesday

Today I wanted to share a picture of my cousin, Alexis aka Lexi.
Isn't she beautiful? She always has a smile on her face - no matter what!
By looking at this picture you wouldn't think that she is battling leukemia, would you?

Lexi's Story:

Back in June, Lexi began to have aches and pains in her ankles that would occur most often in the early morning hours. Seeing as she is only 12, everyone assumed it was just growing pains. However, Lexi kept complaining of pain and then developed a fever. Her grandparents and dad took her to the doctor where she was examined, treated for her fever, and sent home. They assumed things were ok but then Lexi began to develop lumps on several places of her body. She was once again taken to the doctor where she was tested for Arthritis, Lupus, and number of other things. Nothing pinpointed the problem - that was until she was taken to Children's Hospital Central California. There they ran a series of test and it was then determined that she has acute myelogenous leukemia (AML).

Fast forward a month...
Lexi has now completed her first round of chemo. She is doing great and continues to be good spirits! Her doctors are actually letting her go home TODAY for a week. Woohoo!

The reason for this post is to make others aware of the symptoms of leukemia. Before Lexi's diagnosis, we had no clue what AML was or any symptoms that are associated with Leukemia. We also wanted to share with you ways you can donate. Your donation can help find better treatments and cures for blood cancers so patients can live better, longer lives.

Help Team Lexi in the mission to wipe out blood cancer! If you're in San Diego, join our team for the Light the Night Walk at the Del Mar Fairgrounds on November 5th, 2010.

If you're in the Fresno, CA area - please join Team Lexi for the Light the Night Walk at Historic Cobb Ranch on October 2, 2010

The mission of Children's Hospital Central California is to provide high quality, comprehensive health care services to children, regardless of their ability to pay.

Your dollars help fund life-saving technology, advance clinical services, provide a safety net for children with little or no private medical insurance and create a healing environment designed to enrich the experience of patients and their families.

There are a number of ways to give, check them out!

Safeway Back-to-School Event Giveaway

I am always on the lookout for Box Tops when I go shopping! I even round them up from family and friends so I can give them to my daughter's school. Each Box Top is worth 10-cents and can be found on brands such as Cheerios®, Betty Crocker®, Juicy Juice®, Ziploc®, Kleenex®, Hefty®, Welch's® and many more! Right now, the Safeway family of stores (which includes Dominick's, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Vons, and Genuardi's) is making it simple to give back with "2 Ways 2 Earn" cash for your schools with Box Tops for Education and the "10% Goes Back to Schools" program.

Box Tops for Education has already given away over $320 million to help the more than 69 thousand schools participating. And if that wasn't enough, earning Box Tops is even easier this year with four new brands participating in the program: Progresso Soup, Totino´s Pizza, Betty Crocker Cake Mixes and Gold Medal Flour.

To help your local schools even further just look for the "10% Goes Back to Schools" yellow school bus tags on over 2,000 of your favorite items throughout Safeway from August 11th - September 14th. When you purchase participating products with your Club Card, Safeway will give 10% of the purchase price to the local school of your choice.

Here's how it works:
* Check your receipt from August 11 - September 14. The total will be updated each time you shop.

* Beginning on September 18, a redemption code will be printed at the bottom of your receipt.

* Visit backtoschools.escrip.com before October 13 to choose your favorite participating local school, then simply enter your redemption code to make your donation.

To learn more about Box Tops for Education and Safeway's "10% Goes Back to Schools" program, visit www.2ways2earn.com. And while you´re there, don´t forget to enter the Safeway Bonus Box Tops Sweepstakes for a chance to win 1,000 Bonus Box Tops for the participating school of your choice!

Kushyfoot Review & Giveaway

Just recently I received some Kushyfoot products to review. If you have never heard of Kushyfoot before, then you don't know what you are missing out on! I didn't even know until I tried these on.

Kushyfoot is a line of products foot products all inspired with Reflexology in mind. So what is Reflexology, you ask? Reflexology is based on the ancient principle of healing so that your entire being is connected. When you slip on a pair of Kushyfoot, you'll notice the massaging cushion, that's the Reflexology at work. Did you know that back pain begins in your heel? No worries, Kushyfoot will help ease that. Kushyfoot massages the pressure points on the outside ball of your foot. So what does that mean to you? Well this helps ease the overworked shoulder and every pair is designed to relieve tension and discomfort to our poor feet which also means less stress and fatigue for our bodies.
I wore the Kushyfoot Foot covers with my Ballerina Flats this week. The foot covers come in super low, low, regular and lace. I wore the super low foot covers with my flats and it was so discreet. The foot covers have a cushion on the ball portion of your foot and a heel guard. What a difference this made in comfort! I bought a pair of Coach flats and the back of the shoe was causing some discomfort so I have yet to wear them. So when I received the foot covers and seen the heel guard, I instantly thought of my new shoes. These shoes are even less coverage than the Ballerina flats and the low foot covers was still discreet!

I also tried the Kushyfoot Athletic low cut socks. The Reflexology experts really knew what they were doing here. These socks are absolutely amazing. The comfort comes from the padded soles. The entire sole has this ribbed like cushion, which provides a massaging effect with every step. The Kushyfoot athletic line come in crew, low cut, quarter lengths and even yoga socks. Yesterday when my daughter-in-law came home from work, she was complaining how bad her feet hurt. She is 7 months pregnant, so of course her feet always hurt! I gave her a pair of the athletic socks to feel how kushy they are. She tried them on and without getting up, she said they felt great! When I gave them to her to try, it was just for her to feel the comfort of them but I never got them back. Ummm she wears a children's size shoe (her feet are really small) and I wear a size 9, so I didn't think she would keep them. But I guess they felt that good that she was willing to wear them a little big.

Next on my review list was the Kushyfoot flats-to-go. These flats-to-go come in a cute little pouch that you can take with you anywhere. Just throw them in your purse and when your heels become too much, simply slip on your flats-to go. Flats-to-go feature a 3-dimensional wave cushion that gives you that massaging feel as you walk. The black faux leather makes these Flats-to-go stylish enough to wear inside and outside. So the next time you are stuck in your heels and your feet need some comfort, simply get out your flats-to-go and WHALAA instant comfort! Now I can't think of a woman out there that hasn't needed this relief at some point in the day.
