Goose Valley Wild Rice Review

Do you enjoy eating healthy? I'm not going to say I enjoy it but I have grown to like it. I've been trying to watch what I eat because you know what they say, you are what you eat. I don't know who thought of that saying but I sure hope I'm not what I eat!

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to review three different Goose Valley Wild Rice packages. Goose Valley Ranch is family owned and their rice is grown and milled by them, another family owned Organic certified facility does the packaging for them.

I was so excited to try out the different Wild Rice. I cooked the Natural Wild Rice first and let's just say I was not too excited. I decided to add a little seasoning by adding a little of this and a little of that. Turns out that was just what it needed for my taste buds, the rice was wonderful. So good in fact, I decided I would experiment by using it in a few of the recipes from I made a Rice Fritatta and a Rice Quesadilla. Both recipes came out great. I guess I never realized just how many ways you could use the rice in different recipes.
I thought I'd try a favorite in our house - Cinnamon Rice. I used the Brown and Wild Rice Fusion, which is a blend of Cali Mati Brown Rice, Wild Rice, Heirloom Red Rice and Calmochi Sweet Brown Rice. This was the true test for me. I have eaten cinnamon rice since I was a kid and this was the first time I have EVER used any other rice other than white. The blend of these rices made this family favorite even better! I cooked the rice as directed but added a few cinnamon sticks in it, after cooking I added about 1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon, sugar (to taste), and a little milk (my daughter likes evaporated milk in her rice but I prefer 1% milk).

Did you know that wild rice contains fewer calories than other rice? Now that is something I do enjoy! Goose Valley Wild Rice is a gluten free whole grain and a good source of fiber and protein while low in calories, fat, and sugar. Wild rice contains the essential vitamins & minerals we need to keep us healthy including the B vitamins, calcium, folic acid, iron, lysine, niacin, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin, thiamine, vitamin D, and vitamin E.

If you would like to buy some for yourself visit them at They offer FREE shipping on orders of $25 or more. The certified Organic Wild Rice and the Natural Wild Rice both come in 5 & 10 oz packages. The Brown and Wild Rice Fusion and the Basmati and Wild Rice Fusion both come in 10 oz resealable packages.

Trust me you'll love this!

Frugalicious Mommy Disclosure: Goose Valley provided me with three packages of Wild Rice to review. I was allowed to keep the product, but the opinion I am sharing remains my own. No monetary compensation was received for this post.
