Tip-a-licious Thursday

Have you ever considered using reusable diapers? Maybe you are doing a little research before you jump in to the world of reusable diapers. Well, let me introduce you to a product I was recently introduced to, it's called Smartipants!

Smartipants was the vision of a mommy of four who was constantly looking for an economical, yet easy to use cloth diapering system. The most advanced reusable diaper on the market, Smartipants offers the first-ever Smart Sleeve design for a microfiber self-removable insert, and the softest, non-piling inner lining made of “breathable” fibers free from chemicals and irritants. Its durable, waterproof polyurethane shell (available in seven colors) and gentle-stretch, leak-guard gussets and elastic prevent spillage and can withstand heavy usage and frequent machine washing. Its adjustable snaps, which last longer than Velcro and are guaranteed for two years, allow Smartipants to grow from newborns to toddlers (7-35 lbs.)

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Smartipants on my 5 month old daughter. Being a mother of 3, I know all about diapers & how pricey they can get.

I decided to put this reusable diaper to the true test -- overnight wearing! I was a little intimidated by all the snaps but after messing with it for a minute I realized it's pretty simple. The snaps are actually a pretty neat concept because they allow you to easily adjust the size so it can properly fit your child. All in all...the Smartipants grows with your child! :)

Well after a night of sleep, my daughter awoke with a full diaper. The Smartipants had passed the test with flying colors because there were no wet spots from leaking. I learned that the key is to find the proper placement of the snaps so it can properly fit your child & thus preventing leakage. Oh and cleaning the Smartipants is a breeze! I placed the Smartipants (as is) into the wash & during the cycle the insert came out on it's on own! NO NEED TO TOUCH THE DIRTY INSERT, which makes me happy!

The price of the Smartipants might scare you because they cost $14.95 for one & $39.95 for three. However, the company states that instead of requiring 7,000 disposable diapers, the average baby needs only 24 reusable diapers, resulting in a net savings of around $3,000.00.

Want to hear some more cool facts?
*All of their diapers are proudly made in the USA!

*Easy to use:
Smartipants™ diapers are both easy to use and easy to care for. Just place the absorbent insert into either side of the sleeve, and it will stay snugly in place until you remove the diaper from your baby. Once the diaper is removed, there's no need to take out the insert -- it comes out in the wash!

*Smart for your environment:
Every year our country contributes roughly 3.4 million tons of disposable diaper waste into landfills. Using reusable diapers not only reduces the amount of solid waste, it also reduces the amount of harmful chemicals, oils, and trees required to produce them!

Overall I think this is a great product. The cost to switch over is around $319.60 for 24 diapers, which is really not that bad when you think about it because they are reusable. With Smaripants there are no more late runs to the store to buy diapers & you save money! The Frugalicious Team approves them & apparently so do celebrities...check out this article.
